Heirloom Work: Modernizing a Gown
Heirloom Work, Dress Modernization
Dress Modernization is a service that may involve reconstructing and/or customizing a garment.
Gown Modernization is classified as such due to our prep work. Before a garment may be altered or re-imagined into something new the piece may need to be cleaned and/or preserved, pressed and/or steamed.
We clean and/or preserve vintage and/or antique pieces to museum quality. We ensure before we begin deconstruction that it is possible for us to commence work on it. Threads, fibers, and fabric weaves from long ago, properly or improperly kept through time require a different attention to detail than dresses and gowns from the past 15 years.
Once the piece has been laundered, pressed, and/or steamed we begin modernizing the gown through Reconstruction and/or Customization design development.
Service begins at:
$350 for cleaning
$895 for modernizing
$1900 to create a custom gown
